Colugo Compact+ vs Stokke YOYO3 is one of the most common questions parents ask once they decide they need a small, plane-friendly stroller. Both fold into a bag that fits in most overhead bins, both weigh under 17 pounds, and both look great on a city sidewalk, but they sit at very different prices and make very different trade-offs. We compared specs, expert testing and owner reviews so you can pick the right one for how you travel.

The short answer
Buy the Colugo Compact+ if your child is already sitting up, you want a one-hand auto-fold and the best value, and you do not need to click in an infant car seat. Buy the Stokke YOYO3 if you want one stroller from birth (with the optional newborn pack or a car seat adapter), a bigger basket and real suspension, and you are fine paying roughly twice as much. Our overall pick for most families with a baby over six months is the Colugo Compact+; for newborn travel, the YOYO3 is the more complete system.

Design and weight
The YOYO3 is the lighter of the two at roughly 14.8 pounds and folds into a flat, slim package about 7 inches thick, which is why it has long been a favorite for overhead bins. Stokke added a taller seat back, a larger canopy with a peek-a-boo window, mesh ventilation and reflective wheels compared with the YOYO2, while keeping the same footprint. The Colugo Compact+ is about a pound and a half heavier and folds into a chunkier, squarer shape, but it still fits most overhead bins, and its taller handlebar is a plus for tall parents. Both have UPF 50+ canopies.
Winner: Stokke YOYO3, for the lighter weight and slimmer fold.
Fold and ease of use
This is where the Colugo shines. Its one-button auto-fold collapses the frame without a separate latch, which matters when you are holding a baby at the gate. The YOYO3 folds and unfolds in two steps and, in expert reviews, usually needs two hands; one reviewer also found the unfold could catch if the front wheels were turned. Once folded, the YOYO3 locks and stands upright, and both come with a way to carry them (a travel bag for the Colugo, a padded shoulder strap for the Stokke). The Colugo also moved to a flat, round harness buckle that reviewers found simpler than its older two-pin design, while some YOYO3 owners find its buckle fiddly.
Winner: Colugo Compact+, for the faster, easier fold.
Ride and comfort
The YOYO3 has suspension on all four wheels with elastomer shock absorbers, and reviewers describe a smooth push on uneven sidewalks. The Colugo Compact+ has no suspension, so you feel cobblestones and cracked pavement more, and neither stroller is meant for trails or jogging. On seat comfort, the Colugo carries a higher weight limit (55 pounds versus about 48.5), but its seat is a bit shallower, which can feel cramped for a tall 3-year-old. The YOYO3 seat back grew two inches over the previous model, though at least one reviewer found its recline deeper than her baby liked.
Winner: Stokke YOYO3, for the noticeably better ride.
Newborn and car seat use
If you are traveling with a newborn, this section decides it. The YOYO3 can be used from birth with the optional newborn pack (a lie-flat shell for babies up to about 19.8 pounds), or with an adapter that accepts select Nuna, Cybex, Maxi-Cosi and Clek infant seats. The Colugo Compact+ has no newborn insert and no car seat adapters, so it is a stroller for babies who are already several months old and can sit with support. Always check your specific car seat model against the manufacturer’s compatibility list before you buy an adapter.
Winner: Stokke YOYO3, by a wide margin.
Storage
Stokke more than doubled the YOYO basket for this generation, from 10 to 22 pounds, though reviewers still say a full diaper bag will not fit inside. The Colugo’s basket is rated for 10 pounds and is the most common complaint in reviews. If you live out of the basket on errands, that difference is real.
Winner: Stokke YOYO3.
Value
The Colugo Compact+ sits in the budget-to-mid tier and includes a rain cover, travel bag and cup holder in the box. The YOYO3 sits in the premium tier, and the newborn pack, car seat adapter and other accessories add more on top. Stokke does offer an extended warranty with registration and a growing accessory system, including a frame that converts it to a double. Still, for a stroller you may use mostly on trips, the Colugo delivers most of the convenience for roughly half the money.
Winner: Colugo Compact+.

FAQ
Can you use the Colugo Compact+ with a newborn?
No. Colugo does not offer a newborn insert or car seat adapters for the Compact+, so it is meant for babies who are several months old. Follow Colugo’s stated minimum age and your pediatrician’s guidance on when your baby is ready for an upright seat.
Do both strollers fit in an airplane overhead bin?
Both are sized for most overhead bins, and the YOYO3 is marketed as meeting carry-on rules for major airlines. Airline policies vary and bins on small regional jets differ, so check with your airline before you fly.
Which car seats work with the Stokke YOYO3?
Stokke’s adapter supports select infant seats from Nuna, Cybex, Maxi-Cosi and Clek. Not every model from those brands fits, so confirm your exact seat on Stokke’s compatibility list.
Is the YOYO3 worth the extra money?
If you need newborn use, suspension or a bigger basket, it can be. If your child is older and you mainly want a quick-folding travel stroller, the Colugo covers most needs for much less.
