The best power station for a refrigerator needs two things: enough battery to cover a full day or more of compressor cycling, and enough surge output to handle the jolt every time the compressor kicks on. Small 300Wh camping units cannot do that, so the eight picks below start at about 1kWh and go up to 4kWh models that can run a fridge and a freezer through a multi-day winter outage. We compared specs, expert testing and owner reviews, and we explain how to estimate runtime for your own fridge.

1. EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: Best Overall for Fridge and Freezer Backup
If you want to keep a full-size refrigerator and a chest freezer running at the same time, this is the one to beat. GearJunkie ran exactly that combination for 24-hour stretches on the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus, and its 3,600W inverter leaves plenty of headroom for compressor startup surges plus a few lights and a router. Its sub-10 ms switchover means you can leave the fridge plugged into it full time so it takes over the moment the grid drops. If outages in your area last longer, add batteries to reach up to 11kWh.
Key specs
- Capacity: 3,072Wh, LiFePO4 (expandable to about 11kWh)
- AC output: 3,600W continuous (7,200W surge)
- UPS switchover: under 10 ms
- AC charging: up to 1,800W (0-80% in up to about 89 minutes)
- Solar input: up to 1,600W
- Weight: about 74 lb

What owners say: Reviewers point to how quietly it runs under load and how seamlessly it kept connected devices online during switchover. Weight and price are the drawbacks mentioned most.
2. Anker SOLIX S2000: Best Value for Long Fridge Runtime
The S2000 is built around one job that matters for refrigerators: lasting a long time on a small, steady load. GearJunkie kept a Samsung fridge/freezer running for 34 hours on it, helped by a very low idle draw of about 6W. At about 36 pounds it is also light for a 2kWh unit. The trade-off is a 1,500W inverter, which is fine for a fridge but limits what else you can run at the same time, and there is no way to add batteries later.
Key specs
- Capacity: 2,010Wh, LiFePO4
- AC output: 1,500W continuous (3,000W surge)
- UPS switchover: 10 ms
- AC input: up to 1,600W; solar input up to 400W
- Weight: about 36 lb

What owners say: Reviewers found real-world fridge runtime close to Anker’s own claim and liked the portability. Some noted awkward handles and that heavy power tools can trip the inverter.
3. BLUETTI Elite 200 V2: Best Mid-Size Powerhouse
The Elite 200 V2 pairs about 2kWh of storage with a stronger 2,600W inverter than the Anker, so it can handle a fridge plus a microwave or coffee maker without complaint. In a simulated outage, reviewer Dustin Abbott ran a full-size fridge for 30 hours on it. Fast charging helps too: BLUETTI rates it at 80% in about 1.1 hours from the wall, which is useful if you get short windows of grid or generator power during rolling outages.
Key specs
- Capacity: 2,073.6Wh (rated for 6,000 cycles)
- AC output: 2,600W continuous
- UPS switchover: under 15 ms
- AC charging: up to 1,800W; solar up to 1,000W
- Weight: about 53 lb
👍 Pros
|
👎 Cons
|
What owners say: Reviewers see it as strong value for the capacity and output. The main wishes are an expansion option and a 240V outlet.
4. ALLPOWERS R3500: Most Capacity for the Money
With 3,168Wh of LiFePO4 storage and a 3,200W inverter, the R3500 gives you EcoFlow-class capacity at a noticeably lower cost per watt-hour, and you can add a B3000 battery to double it to 6,336Wh. An independent long-term test by Exspenditure found it handled refrigerator startup surges and got a household through a 14-hour outage. Two caveats: it weighs about 93 pounds, and UPS mode is limited to 1,500W because it passes through a standard 15A outlet.
Key specs
- Capacity: 3,168Wh, LiFePO4 (expandable to 6,336Wh)
- AC output: 3,200W continuous (6,000W peak)
- UPS switchover: under 15 ms (1,500W max in UPS mode)
- Charging: up to 1,500W AC, up to 2,000W solar, up to 4,000W combined
- Weight: about 93 lb

What owners say: Testers like how much backup it delivers for the price. Fan noise under heavy load and a less polished app are the common complaints.
5. ALLPOWERS R2500 V2: Best Budget 2kWh Pick
The R2500 V2 is one of the least expensive ways to get close to 2kWh of LiFePO4 storage with an inverter big enough for a refrigerator. Its 2,500W continuous output and 4,000W surge handle compressor startup easily, and ALLPOWERS says it recharges from the wall in about an hour and a half. It is heavier than the Anker and BLUETTI units at nearly 64 pounds, but if your priority is keeping the fridge cold for about a day at the lowest price, it is a strong option.
Key specs
- Capacity: 1,920Wh, LiFePO4
- AC output: 2,500W continuous (4,000W surge)
- UPS switchover: 15 ms (1,500W max in UPS mode)
- Charging: 1,500W AC (about 1.5 hours to full); solar up to 1,000W
- Weight: about 64 lb
- Warranty: 5 years; Wi-Fi/Bluetooth app
👍 Pros
|
👎 Cons
|
What owners say: Testers of the R2500 line found it quiet in normal use. They also note that about 2kWh is a one-day solution for a fridge, not whole-home backup.
6. Jackery Explorer 2000 v2: Easiest to Use
Jackery’s appeal is simplicity: a clear display, few settings to fuss with and a reputation for being easy for anyone in the household to operate during an outage. The Explorer 2000 v2 packs 2,042Wh into a body that weighs under 40 pounds, and its 2,200W inverter with 4,400W surge handles a fridge comfortably. Its weak points are a 400W solar ceiling and a slower 20 ms switchover, so it is better suited to plug-in-when-needed backup than to running solar all week.
Key specs
- Capacity: 2,042Wh, LiFePO4 (4,000 cycles to 70%+)
- AC output: 2,200W continuous (4,400W surge)
- UPS switchover: 20 ms or less
- AC charging: about 1.7 hours (about 1.3 hours in app emergency mode)
- Solar input: up to 400W
- Weight: about 39.5 lb
👍 Pros
|
👎 Cons
|
What owners say: Jackery owners and reviewers consistently mention the easy-to-read display and straightforward operation. Limited solar charging speed is the most common trade-off raised.
7. EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3: Best for Multi-Day Outages
The DELTA Pro 3 is less a portable power station than a rolling home battery. It stores 4,096Wh, outputs 4,000W at both 120V and 240V, and can connect to EcoFlow’s Smart Home Panel 2 to back up selected circuits, including the kitchen. With extra batteries it reaches 12kWh, enough for a fridge, a freezer and other essentials across several days. It weighs over 110 pounds, so it is meant to live in a garage or utility room on its wheels.
Key specs
- Capacity: 4,096Wh, LiFePO4 (expandable to 12kWh)
- AC output: 4,000W continuous (8,000W surge), 120V and 240V

What owners say: Owners who have used it in outages say it powers their essential circuits without trouble. Cost and size are the obvious drawbacks.
8. Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2: Best Compact Pick
A 1kWh station is the practical minimum for a refrigerator, and the C1000 Gen 2 is a good one: a 2,000W inverter, a 10 ms switchover and very fast recharging, about 49 minutes to 80% in its HyperFlash mode. Expect roughly half a day to a day on a full-size fridge, or longer on an efficient compact or garage fridge. Its quick recharge makes it a smart partner for a gas generator, since an hour of generator time refills it.
Key specs
- Capacity: 1,024Wh, LiFePO4
- AC output: 2,000W continuous
- UPS switchover: 10 ms
- AC charging: 80% in about 49 minutes
- Solar input: up to 600W

What owners say: Buyers praise the charging speed and build quality. The lack of an expansion battery option is the main complaint.

How to choose a power station for a refrigerator
For a quick capacity estimate, try our power station and generator sizing calculator. Then weigh these factors:
- Plan for startup surge, not just running watts. Anker notes a full-size fridge draws roughly 100-200W while the compressor runs, but startup can spike to several hundred watts or more than 1,000W. Outdoor Life measured a fridge surging to about 800W. Look for at least 1,500W continuous output and a healthy surge rating.
- Size the battery for your outage. Many household fridges use about 1-2kWh per day, according to Anker. A 1kWh station is a half-day to one-day solution; 2kWh covers about a day; 3kWh or more, or an expandable system, is the move for multi-day storms.
- Do the runtime math, then pad it. Runtime is roughly battery Wh times inverter efficiency, divided by the fridge’s average watts plus the station’s idle draw. Outdoor Life found stations delivered well under their rated capacity on small loads, so add 20-30% to your estimate.
- Check idle draw. Because a fridge is a small, steady load, a station that wastes power just keeping its inverter on will fall short. Low idle draw is one reason the Anker S2000 tested so well.
- Use UPS mode for automatic backup. A switchover of 10-20 ms lets the station sit between the outlet and the fridge and take over instantly when power fails, so you do not need to be home.
- Consider your fridge’s age. ENERGY STAR says older refrigerators use noticeably more energy than certified models, so an old garage fridge can drain a battery much faster than a newer kitchen model.
- Think about weight and recharging. Units over 60 pounds are best kept in place. If you have solar panels or a generator, a high charging input refills the battery faster between outages.
FAQ
How long will a power station run a refrigerator?
It depends on the fridge, the room temperature and how often you open the door. As real-world examples, GearJunkie got 34 hours from a 2kWh Anker S2000 and Dustin Abbott got 30 hours from a 2kWh BLUETTI Elite 200 V2. A 1kWh unit typically covers half a day to a day on a full-size fridge.
What size power station do I need for a full-size refrigerator?
Look for at least 1,000Wh of capacity and 1,500W or more of continuous output with strong surge capacity. For an overnight outage or longer, 2,000Wh or more is a safer target.
How long does food stay safe in a fridge without power?
According to the USDA, an unopened refrigerator keeps food safe for about 4 hours, and a full freezer holds its temperature for about 48 hours (24 hours if half full). Keep the doors closed and use an appliance thermometer; discard perishables that have been above 40°F for more than 2 hours.
Can I plug a refrigerator directly into a power station?
Yes. Plug the fridge directly into one of the station’s AC outlets, not through a long, thin extension cord, and follow both manufacturers’ instructions. If you want automatic backup, use the station’s UPS or pass-through mode.
