DreamCloud vs Nectar is one of the most common mattress matchups for shoppers who want a hybrid under $1,000. The DreamCloud Classic Hybrid and the Nectar Classic Hybrid are both 12-inch beds with 8-inch pocketed coils, they come from sister brands under the same parent company, and they share nearly identical trials and warranties. We compared specs, expert testing and owner reviews to show how they actually feel different and which one fits your sleep style.

The short answer

Choose the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid if you want a firmer, more supportive bed with strong edges, especially if you sleep on your back or share the bed. Choose the Nectar Classic Hybrid if you prefer a softer, more cushioned memory-foam feel and you are a lighter back or side sleeper. Our overall pick is the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid: it scored better on edge support and motion isolation in expert testing and usually costs a little less.

DreamCloud vs Nectar: feel and firmness

On paper, both beds stack a thin memory foam layer over a transition foam and a coil base. In practice, testers find them noticeably different. DreamCloud calls its Classic Hybrid firm, and Mattress Clarity rated it about 7.5 out of 10, while Sleep Foundation put it closer to a 6. The quilted top adds a little plushness, but most testers describe a supportive, on-top-of-the-bed feel.

Nectar calls its Classic Hybrid medium-firm, but reviewers scored it anywhere from 5.5 to 7 out of 10. Several testers felt more of a hug from the memory foam, and some owners find it softer than they expected. If you are heavier or sleep on your stomach, that extra give can mean too much sink.

Winner: Tie. Pick DreamCloud for a firmer feel and Nectar for a softer, more contouring feel.

Support and edge support

Both beds use 8-inch individually wrapped coils with reinforced edges, but the DreamCloud held up better at the perimeter in testing. Mattress Clarity scored its edge support 4.4 out of 5, and Sleep Foundation also rated it well. The Nectar’s results were mixed: Mattress Clarity noticed a dip when sitting on the edge, while Sleep Foundation scored it higher.

Winner: DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, for more consistent edge support, which matters if you sit on the side of the bed or share a full or queen.

Cooling and temperature

Neither bed is a dedicated cooling mattress. DreamCloud’s cover uses a cooling fiber, and testers called its temperature control decent but warned that very hot sleepers may still feel warm. Nectar’s cover is also marketed as cooling; Mattress Clarity rated it well, but the Tom’s Guide tester ran hot on it. Results seem to depend on the sleeper and the room.

Winner: Tie. If you sleep very hot, look at our cooling mattress guide below.

Motion isolation and pressure relief

Couples will notice motion transfer more on the Nectar, which earned an average motion score from Tom’s Guide. The DreamCloud dampened movement well, though partners can still feel some motion. For pressure relief, DreamCloud performed very well for back sleepers but was less cushioning for average-weight side sleepers. Nectar’s pressure relief was moderate, and the Tom’s Guide tester sometimes woke with a numb arm when sleeping on their side.

Winner: DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, for better motion control and stronger back-sleeper support.

Trial, warranty and delivery

This category is almost a draw because the two brands share a parent company. Both offer a 365-night trial with a 30-night break-in period before you can start a return, free returns with the mattress picked up or donated, and a lifetime limited warranty. Both ship free to the contiguous US in a box, with optional white-glove delivery for a fee.

Winner: Tie.

Value

Both beds sit in the value tier for a queen once sales are applied, and both list inflated “total value” prices that you can ignore. In current pricing seen by reviewers, the DreamCloud usually sells for a bit less than the Nectar, and Tom’s Guide called the DreamCloud the better and cheaper option overall.

Winner: DreamCloud Classic Hybrid.

Which should you buy?

Back sleepers and couples: the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid, for firmer support, sturdier edges and less motion transfer.

Lighter back or side sleepers who like a softer top: the Nectar Classic Hybrid, for its more contouring memory-foam feel.

Heavier sleepers (over about 230 lb) and stomach sleepers: neither is ideal according to testers; look at a firmer, thicker hybrid from our heavy-sleeper or firm mattress guides.

Overall, the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid is our pick for most people. With identical 365-night trials, you can try either one at home with little risk.

Which is better for side sleepers?

Lighter side sleepers may prefer the softer Nectar, while average-weight side sleepers found neither bed especially plush. If side sleeping is your main position, also look at our side sleeper mattress picks.

Can I return either mattress?

Yes. Both offer a 365-night trial. You must keep the mattress for 30 nights first, and returns are free in the contiguous US.
